Portfolio
We are involved in all aspects and phases of instructional design, instructional technology, and instructional project management, working on many different kinds of projects across many domains.
Work Examples
Selling Skills Course
The client wanted to begin developing in-depth online training for retail managers and staff and began with a course in effective selling based on the client’s products.

Sexual Harassment Course
The client wanted to build high-end online sexual harassment courses for supervisors and staff based on their award-winning video and classroom-based courses. These courses were designed to meet California training codes. Additional solutions to infrastructure needs were found.

Blended Business Ethics Course
The client needed a very simple blended course for hourly city workers. An easy-to-use course which included a downloadable manual and online cases with feedback was developed.

Faculty/Stakeholder Information Tools
The client wanted to communicate better with faculty and stakeholders. We assessed the need for and then designed print and Web tools for these purposes. A one page distance learning newsletter includes a job aid on a topic important to distance learning faculty and news from the department.

Blended Health Legislation Training
A coalition of international non-governmental health agencies wanted to determine the feasibility of training public health officials around the world using online technologies. We designed the training, trained facilitators, and provided support during the pilot. We helped them assess the impact of the pilot and plan next steps.

Teaching Resource Center
The client wanted to help faculty make effective use of instructional technologies in classroom, blended, and online courses. We interviewed faculty and developed tools to meet their needs, including a resource links database, templates for different types of online course pages, and pre-built web activities. We helped faculty build web components for their courses.

Faculty Training and Blended Course Design Standards
A for-profit higher education organization was beginning to develop online and hybrid courses. They needed faculty training on online teaching best practices and help with determining how to best design and implement hybrid courses to meet unique accreditation standards.

Classroom Training Design and Materials

We designed the program and built learner and instructor materials so they could advance their outreach and mission. An activity-based approach was used and the materials used a template that matched their newly designed website.

Other Work
Here are just a few examples of other work we have completed.
- Analyze performance problems for a large healthcare client and prototype, build, and evaluate solutions.
- Develop overall training plan and determine best mix of synchronous and asynchronous online, classroom, and support methods to meet training needs for a retail client.
- Train staff in a Fortune 500 telecom company to design blended instruction and effective assessments.
- Select authoring tools and train staff to use the tools for a financial services company.
- Develop plan to put complex curriculum online and assist with repurposing content for a higher education client.
- Develop templates for design of different types of content and activities to enable rapid development.
Other Work
The projects described on this page provide a representative sample of our work. Most of our projects have similarities. We:
- Don't just "put content online." Rather, we help clients determine what is really needed (which is often different than what they expected) before building so resources aren't wasted and real needs are met.
- Don't assume technology is always the best answer. Many of our projects take a blended approach because this approach is usually more effective instructionally (and less expensive), and it makes sense to capitalize on the strengths of different media and approaches.
- Improve client skills and help them effectively use internal and external resources, to reduce costs and maximize outcomes long term.
- Work with clients as partners, so organization and learners needs are always paramount.
Our Clients
We work with a diverse range of clients who have one thing in common-a passion for good information and instruction. We work with corporations, institutions, state and federal government, NGOs, subject matter experts, and higher-education faculty and administrators. We've helped organizations figure out what to do and helped them do it. Typical work products include curriculum, training materials and courses (classroom, online, and blended), scripts for audio and video, health education materials, product manuals, and higher education courses.
